'Ohana with Kalauokekahuli

Natalie, Kealakekua, HI

"Kalauokekahuli has been a great service for me and my 'ohana. I felt supported during the prenatal talk story sessions where we were able to share space and ask questions with other wahine hāpai, and the doulas shared their expertise. I was also able to have one-on-one sessions with Mālia (my Ko'okua), where she was able to coach me on specifics like the ins and outs of cloth diapering. Kalauokekahuli provides important services for us local, Kānaka 'Ōiwi in a way that is flexible and tailored to our needs"

Maile, Makawao, HI

"The support, and birth planning has been so helpful. Having someone with me who literally was there to support me and whatever my wants and needs were made a big difference in my confidence. The koʻokua had no judgment. Whether it was wanting to do things naturally or not, her only concern was whatever made me comfortable and happy."

Alison, Reno, NV

"When I was first selected to be a part of the next cohort of mentees for the Kalaukekahuli Mentorship Program, I knew this opportunity was meant for me. As a Kanaka Maoli living in the diaspora, I have always found it difficult to connect with my culture. Now as a mentee in this program, I have truly found my purpose to serve ka lāhui and connect to 'āina each and every day. This program has opened up opportunities that I never thought were possible living in the diaspora."
